ECO OBJECT. Art that Cleanses Cities
A project by the ART FRONT public movement.
What is ECO OBJECT?
ECO OBJECT is a series of eco-artistic events in Ukrainian cities.
Teams of volunteers, local residents, and artists go to a chosen location, collect trash, and transform it into art objects.Before the event, the artist creates a sketch on asphalt, ground, or a special surface. After cleaning, participants arrange the collected trash in the form of an installation.
The finished work is photographed, published on social media, and added to the larger collection ECO OBJECT Ukraine.This is simultaneously:
- real benefits for the environment,
- a vibrant artistic process
- a way to unite people around a positive actions.
Why we do this
- To show: our environment is in our hands.
- To turn the routine of cleaning into creativity and celebration.
- To create a new format of urban art.
- To inspire other cities to develop their own environmental initiatives.
- To assemble a unique collection of environmental installations that will form the basis of a traveling exhibition throughout Ukraine and the world.
How it works
- Choosing a location — park, square, riverbank, courtyard, industrial area.
- Artist’s sketch — the future painting is applied using safe materials.
- Cleaning up the area — volunteers collect trash.
- Creating an art object — trash becomes an element of the installation.
- Photoshoot and video — recording the work from a drone and the ground.
- Publication — social media, website, interactive map of Ukraine.
- Exhibition — the best works are combined into an ECO OBJECT tour.
